@jwildeboer @im IMHO there is a commonality between the #cryptocraze and #tulipmania: the greater fool's pricing mechanism as the speculated on goods had no real life value (or at least use case which would warrant an exorbitant price).

This holds regardless of how widespread the trade of tulip futures was or whether the subsequent depiction of this episode in Dutch history was an anti-capitalist plot of some calvinists.
