It really would have been easy to just sort of kick Craftopia into the dumpster when Pocketpair had an actual runaway success on its hands in the form of Palworld, but the game is still chugging along and has just received its spring update. #Craftopia https://gamesense.co/game/craftopia/news/discuss/craftopia-releases-its-spring-update-with-future-technology-mithril-and-more/

I was paying no attention to a #game like #Palworld because honest to god it looks like shit, and from what people are saying - buggy as hell, on top of it clearly plagiarising #Pokemon in too many ways, as "different" as they are. Its popularity only tells me that people are willing to pay for a buggy, shitty looking plagiarised homework as long as it's fun, and it probably is. I wish I would play it but I seriously cannot get past the shitty graphics and UI, that looks too much like a fan project tryna recreate their favourite game.

Then I discovered that Palworld was developed/produced by the same company that made
#Craftopia - another game of theirs that is a blatant copy of another IP/game that people love, #Zelda or in particular, #BOTW. I remember seeing that game on #Steam, saw its trailer and immediately wanted to barf seeing its fan project levels of effort to try and recreate BOTW. I don't normally root for #Nintendo when it comes to protecting their IP cos most of the time, their basis for doing so is outrageous, but in this case I'd be so freaking surprised if they're just gonna leave things be.

Please, y'all, you
CAN make fun and interesting games, even derivative of another popular game, and still make it fuckin' original. If at any point, you think that a good portion of people will compare the (blatant) likeness of your game to another in whatever way including assets, mechanics, writing, etc. then it's NOT original and you're potentially just writing off your game's success or in this case, longevity/potential reach when it could've reached greater heights IF it's irrefutably original (again, even if it's derivative).
