Christmas markets are nice and all, but they ( #corkcc ) should really have pedestrianised Emmett Place.

the one by the Crawford Gallery on Emmett place (with ridiculously low awnings too) has taken up all the footpath and the area is full of people in cars double parked for their Starsucks coffee

How Cork City Council can move on from its robotrees fiasco

The local authority should apologise for wasting taxpayers' money — and learn to listen to experts when considering matters beyond its own expertise, writes John Sodeau

Thanks Eoin English and The Examiner for reporting my comments on the Traveller Accommodation Programme agreed by #CorkCC.

This is the most well-researched of any adopted anywhere. Now it has to move from being a "plan" to a "programme" of delivery.

This month, #CorkCC agreed its budget for 2025.

A priority for me was the rates reductions offered to owners of vacant commercial buildings. These will be reduced and reviewed again next year.

I'm also working with officials on policy to promote meanwhile use of vacant properties.

My latest monthly newsletter is out now:

🌳 New parks across the ward
🅿️ Parking enforcement on MacCurtain Street
🚸 Safe Routes to Schools in St Luke's and Glanmire

As well as all my motions and questions to #CorkCC for this month.

That's the question being asked in a public consultation between now and 30 September. Email [email protected] with your opinion for the #CorkCC budget for 2025.
