Well that's enough computer for me today.

pop quiz: does docker compose use "-" (hyphen) or "_" (underscore) as a separator between the project name and the container name?

This is actually a trick question.

I'm at the point where this triggers a lot of anxiety for me. Love that every SaaS platform I use throws this at me like once every two months.

1. I had a skype-for-business call (it's still around) this morning and my webcam glitched immediately. I turned it off-and-on, but Skype said "sorry, another application is using the camera" (yeah, you are/were, skype).

2. I tried to change my MS Teams "incoming call" ringtone because I'm sick of the "Ride of the Valkyries" (it stresses me out). I changed it in settings but that has zero effect. Every day it's "Ride of the Valkyries".

Thank you, Microsoft.

Love when I go to change my password and get an ASP.net error dump because my password manager generated a password that the website thinks is an attempt at HTML injection. #InfoSec #ComputersAreBad
I use MS Edge for work and I created a new "profile" so that I could be logged in to Azure portal under two different "Directories" (basically ours and a client's). BUT when I switched directories in profile B, Edge would hop me back to profile A and do the switch there. I thrashed around until discovering (I think?) that disabling this made it behave as I expected. #ComputersAreBad
I have a bespoke windows build machine connected to Jenkins. I can't run the Jenkins agent as a service because if I do that, it can't "see" the fancy cloud storage drive that is provided by a proprietary app that holds build dependencies. So I have to connect to the machine using Teamviewer to start the Jenkins agent manually. If I use Remote Desktop instead of Teamviewer, then the wrong OpenGL drivers are loaded and many of the automated tests in the Jenkins pipeline fail. #ComputersAreBad
it's really weird that web browsers don't have first-class support for reading EPUB files. aren't they just zip files with HTML and CSS inside? #computersarebad

I have "New Mail Alerts" set up in MS Outlook, so that eg. when I get an e-mail telling me that someone has asked me for a code review, I will get an outlook pop-up/alert. I have several e-mail rules in Outlook that do this.

Outlook's "New Mail Alert" pop-up is like 200x125 pixels and is not resizable. The sender and subject columns are wide enough to show about the first 1/3rd of the subject of the e-mail. About 2.5 e-mails are visible without scrolling. It's maddening.

every windows laptop is essentially an advertisement that says "you should buy an Apple laptop instead." I will provide no further details #computersAreBad
