The fact that we do not have the language for the work of designing collaboration, starting from user needs, not from tools. #collaborationarchitecture

This week I found @ResearchOrgs and I am massively impressed. They've built their entire coordination infrastructure in the open. The roadmap is a GitHub repo. Registry updates are tracked as GitHub issues. Anyone can request additions or updates to the registry, and suggested changes go through a metadata curation lead and curation advisory board. So I have sent a message to ask if there is a visual documentation about all this, and if not, if I can contribute one. #collaborationarchitecture
@ij Hi! re. rocketchat - if the user does not know the function exists, and the function is central to them, but they feel they cannot discuss it - does the function exist? And re. requirements - the problem I am trying to address by introducing the term #collaborationarchitecture is that without help, managers do not make decisions that result in a coherent infrastructure. I am testing a workshop format, have already scheduled the first trial runs in March https://ankeholst.de/leistungen/workshops-und-team-aktivitaten/

Collaboration Architecture
Ah.
Collaboration Engineering – Wikipedia

Today I read tweets from 2011 (because something happened and I remembered a now deleted account. So I only saw replies and quotes)

My god we were all so nice and innocent

Still, this is relevant - someone who experienced this culture will think about collaboration differently than someone who has not

How do we build this into #collaborationarchitecture ?

@dante_j_bass hey thank you for the appreciation - let us prototype! I built my visuals in Mural but that is difficult (or rather, expensive) as permanent space for collaboration. What platform (pad?) would you suggest? I started a subreddit today https://www.reddit.com/r/CollabArch/ #collaborationarchitecture

#39c3 was so much. I am still digesting.

I sum up some of what I learned in the phrase "outsourcing coordination, collaboration, communication, community to a black box algorithm" that frames what many "AI" tools promise to do for organisations.

Outsourcing it won't work, we need to learn to build, now more than ever. #collaborationarchitecture

@the_Anke Just loved your workshop, thank you! Could you please make the slide with your graphic we saw at the workshop and the other one you mentioned availiable? I'd love to have a state of what tools do we have, what we like about them and what we don't. Is there a pad? We're prototyping collaboration science with this now? #collaborationarchitecture
Collaboration Architecture - Because WhatsApp Groups are Terrible Free Knowledge Habitat 39c3

WhatsApp groups have become the default tool for coordinating anything. Also, WhatsApp groups are terrible. We all have stories. From an architectural point of view, they are terrible because the least configurable platform. There is a 1 and a 0 - you are a member of a group and get every message, or you are not a member and get no message. We used to have tools that worked better. Every forum built on free forum software would work better. The problem is - everyone who hears "we should organise" immediately imagines a WhatsApp group. There is knowledge out there about how to build tools and help people organise through them - but we have no language. I am proposing Collaboration Architecture. What do we think?
