Congratulate me for my adulting, I not only obey my task management software's notification to go clean the bathroom sink but while I was there I remembered I was going to try and pry off the cover for the overhead fan-and-lights and see if that made it easier to get out the dead bulbs, and when I'd done that I went "..."

and got a dust mask and head covering and vacuum cleaner and unscrewed and cleaned *all* the bulbs and vacuumed the hell out of that thing.

Hopefully that will sort out the faint burninating smell I'd started to notice (and so have been avoiding using those lights) and if it doesn't then at least whatever electrician I have to call won't curse my name.
