@crystalvisits this is a great resource!

This one about marigold made me laugh because, in full #chaosGardening spirit, I once planted chervil exactly on top of where I had already planted marigold (but forgotten). I had never seen a chervil plant, so when the marigold sprouted I thought it was the chervil. I knew there was something wrong with that "chervil", but I didn't figured it out until the first flower came up ๐Ÿ˜…

Mini rose is 50% reverted to maxi rose. Iโ€™m guessing the big version is dominant but not sure if itโ€™s grafted or mutated. One is six inches tall. The other is two feet tall.

Continued developments in weirdness. The vegetating tamales have The Plans.

Today I put 32 bedding plants in the ground, all species native to this region. the ground is mostly red clay but it does drain well and get plenty of sun. according to The Internet, orange peels and coffee grounds may deter neighborhood cats. or maybe the sticks every 6 inches will do that job.

Couldn't have asked for a better day to dig in the mud - cool and drizzly with nice soft ground.

Pruned the older branches so now I just have two Evil Sorcerer Walking Sticks staring at me. Fun.

So. Something is afoot in the yard. I was going to ask if anyone could identify these absolute unit stalks coming up, but I found a good picture from last yearโ€™s much MUCH thinner stalks surrounding it. Pretty sure itโ€™s Disporum longistylum 'Green Giant'. These new stalks showed up a couple weeks ago and they are significant.

The third picture is of a flower from last May.

Ah ha! One trillium survived! Sometimes itโ€™s hard to remember the spring plants when thereโ€™s dirt in the fall that has to go *somewhere*.
