I just made my first PR on an #OpenSource project. Ever. Why did that take so long? IDK - I guess all the projects I worked with had everything I needed, and I was too busy to volunteer my time for something I didn't need. The PR is just a small suggestion to improve memory performance in #EconML (#causalml) - we'll see what the repo maintainers think of my hackery, haha...

#CausalML update - I am now fitting my first #CausalForest on real data!

Does anyone have advice on the most important #hyperparameters (After the # of trees & tree depth.)

I'm working on large imbalanced data sets and a large number of treatment variables, so it's not like anything you see in the economics literature. 🤔 #ML #AI #causal

I am just getting on the #CausalML bandwagon. Are you already doing it? Any favorite models that you have actually used in production? Please share your thoughts and boost this post! #AI #ML #causal

Causal Christmas Tree Challenge: Draw sth with two potential outcome functions.
I drew a christmas tree and passed the task to my #causalML students @unitübingen@bawü.social as assignment.
Can you eyeball which implied CATE looks like batman? If not, check the notebook https://mcknaus.github.io/assets/cctc/Causal_Christmas_Tree_Challenge2022.html

#DoWhy 0.9 includes some exciting new extensions and features, including better sensitivity analyses, new identification algorithms, and more. I'm particularly excited to see so many new contributors joining in on this release!

Lots of new folks joining today so maybe worth reposting:

Hello #causal folks. I haven't run into a list of #causal #causalinf #causality #causalml people on mastodon yet. I thought I'd start crowdsourcing.

Please share, edit, add yourself, etc. Thanks!

It was great to be at #NeurIPS2022 last week and catch up with so many friends and colleagues! Excited about the breadth of #causalML work there, including much work on #causality from our team at Microsoft Research.

I wanted to highlight a few in a brief thread:

Today at 4:30pm at the
@MSFTResearch
booth (#202) at #NeurIPS2022, Agrin Hilmkil and Cheng Zhang are demoing our open source Causal AI suite, including our new no-code interface, ShowWhy.

Introduction to ShowWhy, user interfaces for causal decision making - Microsoft Research

ShowWhy is a no-code user interface suite that empowers domain experts to become “decision scientists,” who can independently ask a causal question, develop causal estimates, and present and defend causal evidence to an audience of decision makers. Developed as an open-source application from Microsoft Research, ShowWhy leverages the shared APIs of the DoWhy, EconML, and […]
