I used to nickname my cat Tshokola "kool aid man" because she loved to burst into a room meowing if she thought you were up to something without her.😼 Anyways I guess my current kitty Najma is taking on that mantle because I had a dream I was in Montreal for my upcoming trip in my friend's house but the kitty walked onto the scene meowing. When I woke up she was standing on my chest hollering in my face.😭🐈

Have you heard of clicker training for cats? Teaching a cat to perform small behaviours followed by an immediate reward (usually a treat)
can boost the animal's self-efficacy:
"I made that! I earned myself that treat through my own actions!"

(I had good success with two previous female rescue cats who lacked self-confidence.)

After only two weeks of training, the effects were measurable-- Clicker training was found to increase cats’ exploratory behaviour, and therefore can help shy cats in group settings, among other positive effects.

A good scientific article here:

I have met cats. They have definitely had the idea of killing and eating a cow. They lack only the means. Now carrots, on the other hand...

Mood Swings

When I got home they were all peaceful and adorable. Then after a few minutes they went crazy and tried to slaughter each other.

Now they are all chill and relaxed again.

Cat psychology. Who knows what they think, right?

Hmm, my take would be, it's a displacement activity - due to high excitement.
I have noticed hissing from my cat when she plays fetch-the-laser-dot and gets really excited and kinda crazy. Then she lets out a hiss - and continues chasing!

See if that fits for Corrie and her soft cushions?

@hellomiakoda And if your cat just sits on the cardboard scratcher, and scratches the carpet instead?

The Science of Affection That Makes Cats Knead You

Kneading is when cats massage an object with the front paws, which extend and retract, one paw at a time.
