Went to the plant nursery to look for something native that would work in a specific area. Left with two hybrid penstemons. They're not going to work. The hybrids or cultivars never work on this ground. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm looking for native weeds, not plants. The garbage that grows in ditches, parking lots or construction sites is what thrives here. #NativePlants 

I keep meaning to note when I get a new 15lb bag, just to see how long it lasts. Piglet is already on the scene to supervise. And one of the end of her tail. The little white ploof after all of that orange is something I find captivating.

A section of my #nativeplants plot has been doing terrible this year, and I've heard about it from a couple of neighbors. But this is why I haven't messed with it. This butterfly weed should have been up and blooming nearly a month ago. It just popped up in the last few days. I also stopped mowing an adjacent section and let the milkweed take over. It's shady, but they don't seem to care.
