When it comes to #backup/restore in #linux, it is sort of ridiculous that a person cannot choose to backup #metadata like the #birthtime of a file, especially at the time of the copy operation.
In 2019, someone wrote a patch to set the #creationTime of a file but it was contested:

Are there any hacks available to allow batch restoring of creation times based on a source folder and altering the system clock repeatedly?
