Today I finished listening to David Szalay's novel Flesh, last year's Booker Prize Winner. I didn't love it, but I appreciated the strong connection to the narrator from Camus's The Stranger. With this novel and The Rest of Our Lives (also a Booker short-lister), I'm tired of average-guy, repressed but still toxic masculinity. I was clearing the table for our next Book-ish Club book.
