In 1983, Phyllis Diller snuck into the male-only Friar’s Club roast for Sid Ceasar dressed as a man aka Phillip Downey. She was the first woman to attend the Club.

It wasn’t until 1987 when the first female, @officiallizaminnelli was officially inducted and openly allowed into the club.
