I haven't been posting about my work on #beambots here - mainly because I forgot I had this account 🤪

Here's the week two status update: https://beambots.dev/blog/progress-2025-12-22/

Week Two: Tell It Where, Not How

The WidowX-200 comes alive with Dynamixel control, inverse kinematics lands, a LiveView dashboard appears, and we're planning a budget-friendly robot arm for 2026.

🚨💜 Attention BEAM folks 💜🚨 I’d to get your input on features for the new & improved Beam it website Please let me know any suggestions or thoughts you might have #beam #elixir #erlang www.linkedin.com/posts/hayden...

Elixir & Erlang Recruitmen...
Elixir & Erlang Recruitment | Beam It | Hayden Evans

💜🚨 Feedback requested from the BEAM community 🚨💜 I’ve been relying on Wix Forums for our blog/content as well as the beamrecjobs board for around 5 years now but they’ve decided to discontinue it from March 2026.. As a result, I’m beginning to plan the launch of a new & improved Beam it Recruitment website early next year & with that in mind, I wanted to request input from my target audience, the users within the BEAM community I have a few ideas in mind but I’d love to hear your thoughts on how I can improve on the current site & what features you could actually benefit from. I’ve had a few suggestions to build the site in Elixir, in a perfect world I’d love to implement that but I’m also concerned about needing to make small changes & being hamstrung by my own lack of dev skills The structure I had in mind is as follows: Essential: - Home/Landing page: similar to the current one at Beamrec.com - Job board: live jobs listed by region - Blog/Content: All legacy content including interviews, news/updates, personal & expert blogs - Employability: just an overview & sign up links for coaching - Employers: Info on our services for clients looking to hire Elixir folks Concepts I’d like to hear your thoughts on: - Candidate portal: Members only area for existing candidates, including more in-depth information on live clients - Candidate database: free service for applicants to promote themselves, employers would be able to access their details via a paid tier - Open job board: Employers would be able to promote their jobs directly to Beam it’s network, this would include e-mails to our database (if opted-in) for new jobs & hot jobs each week/month - Anything other suggestions (within reason!) I’d like to think I’ve built up enough trust within the community over the past 11 years to know that my focus will always be on prioritising a personalised, bespoke recruitment process in which I can help you through from screening to acceptance, however I’m interested in exploring opportunities to also assist those that prefer to take things on themselves & just act as a conduit to help candidates find employers directly. If you’ve read this far, thank you! I’d love to hear your thoughts whether it be feedback, ideas or even suggestions on ways to make this happen Hayden 💜🙌🏻

A Code Centric Journey Into the Gleam Language by Giacomo Cavalieri

Now I’m really curious. Also, every introduction to a programming language should be modeled on Giacomo’s layout. Just enough information to not bore seasoned programmers but not too much to lose the overall understanding of the system. Brilliant.

I Tried Gleam for Advent of Code, and I Get the Hype

A 12 day Advent of Code year convinced me Gleam is the real deal, thanks to Rust-like errors, great pipes, and surprisingly ergonomic FP.
