It's also that Japanese singing streams are just a more efficient way to farm subs (but not longtime viewers) because all us foreigners enjoy JP songs easily, and even JP viewers would casually sub to anyone singing, especially when doing an 'endurance' challenge.
Holostars Oga has this bit where the sushi he makes comes to life, and this year they got Akirose to play onee-san with the seiyuu Hikaru Iida as her sushi.
Very very sus lines like "Didn't think we'd go 50 rounds (around the conveyor belt)" and "Looks like you've gotten hard (the sushi got dry)".
I'm looking thru #FUWAMOCO archives to find that one moment where they mention that their first exposure to #Hololive was a random picture of #Akirose where Fuwawa wondered if she was an anime or visual novel character. If anyone could find which video that was, that'd be helpful. Maybe it was a member stream...
Anyway, out of all of HoloJP (not counting DEV_IS), Akirose Rosenthal is the only one who is yet to hit the 1 million YT subscriber mark, and she made a few tweets and comments in streams recently about how that made her sad.
She was one of the slowest growing account for quite some time, and was 'saved' by her overseas fans at one point. She acknowledges that chasing numbers blindly was bad for her mental health, but as the last one standing from the 1st generation, she does feel the pinch.
