More prepping for winter fun in the 'shop. Moved the #Jeep #Comanche onto hard ground and inspected/tightened up the tarp to make sure no snow/rain gets in the cab (no doors atm).

Put tires that hold air for more than a week <!?> on the small #Cherokee in prep to get it moved inside. Ordered some #WJ knuckles off ebay. Was trying to order some #Akebono calipers this AM but "homey-dos" caught up with me.

Now to get those appliances out of the workshop so the #Miata can be shoved to the side..

It is incredible that legendary Akebono, a superstar athlete who both personified toughness and perseverance, and broke arguably the greatest glass ceiling in all of sports, is best remembered for his kind-hearted and caring nature. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2024/04/15/baseball/akebono-human-side-yokozuna/ #baseball #akebono #johnjacques
Akebono's human side eclipsed his incredible sumo achievements

Talk to anyone personally acquainted with recently deceased former yokozuna Akebono and almost immediately the words “generous” and “kind” will arise.

I grew up in #Hawaii in the 80s and early 90s, and #Akebono was a *big* deal for locals.

A lot of folks know Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" but I wish more folks knew his stuff like "Tengoku Kara Kaminari" (Thunder from Heaven), which tells the story of local boys who go on to do #Sumo in the big leagues. In the style of the greatest classical epics:

"They have traveled, thousand miles away
Sometimes lonely, far away from family
All have conquered, a dream that seemed impossible
With dignity, they are Hawai'i sumotori"

Here's that tune: https://youtu.be/MGD4EQMgbYE
