For commercial use AI is quite dumb indeed. Just hire and pay someone who can do it for real, and you will get much better results.

But to me, a software engineer, the above uses make sense. Due to everyone else using AI for meme shitposting, I cannot compete unless I use AI too. Badly made GIMP edits no longer cut it, people no longer find them funny.

And yeah - management doing performance reviews. I was never good at writing this bureaucratic performance review nonsense. I am a tech, not a manager, and definitely not a writer (and also way too European to come up with the typical American exaggerations everyone uses in that kinda stuff). I have not done it yet, but if forced enough to write more and more stuff for "self assessment", I may resort to AI too. After all, many colleagues would do it too, and even many managers encourage it, and if I am the only one not doing it, the writing style will look worse, I will lack all the right exaggerations, and it may cost me my job. Because now "everyone else is bad at it too" no longer works in my favor.

I guess these effects can be summarized as #AInflation...
