Hungary, 1930. The sign above the pub reads "Wine, Beer, Pálinka" (fruit brandy). Pálinka is now a "protected designation origin" in the EU which means the term “pálinka” can only be used by Hungary for an alcoholic drink distilled from any fruit grown on Hungarian soil.

There is also a sign on the front for Unicum, a distinctive herbal liquor, made by Zwack, that is still popular in Hungary today.
