I'd like to share with you some of our dying #culture, which is regrettably being steadily replaced with everyone sitting in their houses browsing facebook, reddit, and anything else that will make you never want to leave your phone.
I'm going to speak specifically about the old #traditions in #Ramadan, as it is a highly special month throughout the entire country. I think you would not regret reading what I have to say, and it should not be lost for future generations.

Imagine yourself at the chaikhana (the warm and inviting traditional coffee house in #Iraq). It's the month of Ramadan, and the atmosphere is even more festive than usual. You take a seat and listen as the qussakhoun, (a very old, skilled storyteller), begins to spin his tales. He expertly tells stories passed from generations, of old adventures, capturing the attention of everyone in the room.
But the fun at the chaikhana doesn't end with the stories. In the corner, a group of men are huddled together, playfully arguing as they compete in a game of mheibis. The rules are simple: two teams face off, with each team covering their hands with a blanket. One person hides a ring in their hand, and the other team has to guess which hand it's in. If they guess wrong, they'll have to buy a tray of delicious sweets (#Baklawa, #Zlabya, etc) for everyone to share. It's all in good fun.

I will later explain more traditions, as it doesn't end here. I'm also happy to answer any questions!
