#Mayan ceremonial site of #Xunantunich in #Belize
Hi from Belize, a while without posting. What an experience to visit today the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich (Stone Maiden in Mayan), worth searching the lore of the place.

When I lived in Belize in 1975-76 the vehicle ferry seldom ran, mostly just with advance notice for archaeology or military vehicles (there was a UK military post atop El Castillo watching the Guatemala border). Regular crossings were by canoe (then walk uphill to the site).

To get to the Mayan ruins at #Xunantunich, you have to take this little human-powered #ferry across the river. There's one guy who cranks it back & forth, building up those arm muscles. πŸ’ͺ😁
