Reminds me of #wormhole ¹ and #wsend ²...

  • Personally I've used #WebCall ³ most of the time to transfer files but that's because for transfering stuff I've got servers setup instead, and it's mostly about guiding "#TechIlliterates" around remotely.

@octade @micahflee @torproject Yeah and it does solve the file transfer problem rather elegant in cases where one doesn't have a "box" ready and/or doesn't want to use some 3rd party service like #wsend¹ or #ntfy² [or #oshi which has been seemingly discontinued]...

@bowreality @pavelzinoviev @smallcircles I would've likely considered @obsidian , alongsode #Oshi, #Wsend and maky others like #Tarsnap, if I didn't have to comply with both #GDPR & #BDSG which is incompatible with #CloudAct.

Otherwise I would've used Tarsnap for backups for nearly a decade.

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] precisely. #Tardnap as another example: They do release their source code (only source-available, not open source!) to both fulfill Kerckhoff's principle, allow people to audit said code independently as well as port it to their OS of choice. https://www.tarsnap.com/open-source.html Personally I prefer solutions like #Zulip that come with a good #API amd thus allow 3rd party clients like #Barnowl to support easily.
