Brazil Demands Action: Deliver Climate Plans

Right now, only 28 countries have submitted their updated climate plans (NDCs) to the United Nations, while the biggest polluters have failed to act. Together, these nations represent 83% of global emissions and nearly 80% of the world’s economy. By dragging their feet, they are gambling with our collective future. Sign the petition to call on every nation to submit their updated climate plans in advance of COP30. These Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are not paperwork. They are the backbone of the Paris Agreement—the commitments that every five years are supposed to get tougher to keep us below the deadly 1.5 °C warming limit. Missing this deadline means missing a lifeline. China remains silent on its timeline. The European Union has delayed, blaming internal legislative gridlock. India is signaling a late-year submission, citing climate finance frustrations. Other G20 players like Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Russia, and Australia are either drafting or delaying, with no serious commitments yet. The United States submitted its updated NDC in December 2024–two months before pulling out of the Paris Agreement. September 25, 2025, is just weeks away. By that date, countries must submit their plans so the UN can release a “synthesis report” that shows where the world stands before leaders gather at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, this November. Brazil—hosting the talks—has issued a last-ditch plea: deliver your plans now, or face the consequences in Belém. As Brazil’s climate envoy made clear, this is about more than numbers. It’s about justice, survival, and a livable planet. We know the truth: delay is denial. Every government that refuses to submit an ambitious plan is siding with polluters over people. But together, we can hold them accountable. Sign the petition to call on world leaders to require every country, especially major emitters, to submit transparent, ambitious, and just NDCs by 25 September 2025. At COP30, governments must face the truth, own up to the science, and deliver transformational commitments in solidarity with Brazil’s urgent call. Our future cannot be negotiated away. Sign the petition to join us in calling out the laggards and demanding action now—before it’s too late. _______ Source https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/aug/19/brazil-issues-last-ditch-plea-for-countries-to-submit-climate-plans-ahead-of-cop30

Today I'm "portraying" UN-memberstate number 174 - represented by Américo d'Oliveira dos Ramos, prime minister of Saõ Tomé & Principe.

Sao Tome became the first country in Africa to adopt multiparty democracy in 1990. It was, later on, followed up by holding its first multiparty elections in 1991 after changing the Constitution. The first multiparty elections were free, fair, transparent, and non-violent.

There are no dangerous animals like tigers, lions, deadly snakes, or spiders in the jungle of São Tomé.
However, the most threatening animal is the mosquito. (Afrikanza.com)

Today I'm "portraying" UN-memberstate number 178 - represented by
Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell, primeminister of Grenada

An important aspect of the Grenadian culture is the tradition of storytelling, with folk tales bearing both African and French influences.
Politics in Grenada has been characterised by instability and corruption, but has improved greatly since the 1990s.
