Please learn about this case. Sign the petition and be part of making changes together. This is beyond comprehension how the system fails women of physical and sexual abuse. A man can kill a child because he is wearing a hoodie but a woman defending herself after years of known horrible abuse cannot defend herself.

Nancy Pelosi | US House of Representatives: History, Art & Archives

On January 4, 2007, Nancy Pelosi became the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House. This painting, part of the House’s collection of Speaker portraits, depicts Pelosi wielding the gavel for the first time as Speaker. The portrait captures the uniqueness of Pelosi’s position, but also situates her in the Speakership’s long history. To the left is the House Mace, symbol of the institution’s authority. To the right, the House inkstand, the oldest artifact in the chamber, rests on the rostrum. The chair behind the Speaker nods to the seat used by Pelosi and her predecessors for decades.
