Now comes a very quick thaw and floods off the mountain right past my side door to the Ohio River.

Making matters worse, after the last few years we've had, the ground is not prepared for flash #snowmelt #flooding.

I feel sorry for people who were stranded because of travel BEFORE the storm hit and they weren't able to factor #WinterStormElliot into their travel decisions

It was -2 degrees Fahrenheit here this morning. I can't ever recall it being that cold here.

The heat pump decided to run on auxiliary heat for part of the night, so I'm dreading the electric bill when it arrives. Despite all precautions, several pipes froze.

The heat pump is running nonstop, and it still can't keep it above 61 inside. I'm having to bust out some space heaters.

We're still going through Winter Storm Elliott until later today. It's made it to 2° F. The goats are doing remarkably well with the shed battened down with double window covers and extra bedding.
