Bare branches, silhouette of withered pomegranates, and quiet thousand-year-old Bagrati Cathedral bathed in the sun. It's winter in Kutaisi, Georgia. In January, sudden snow can cover this picture, there is such a chance. But in 2023, right after the New Year, it was enough warm for daffodils to start blooming.
Yet, winter is a depressing time, even in the subtropics. But I had a personal reason to feel summery - a one-way ticket to Bangkok, away from the cold and madness of Eastern Europe 2023.
