It Came From the Estate Sale

I recently discovered there’s a subreddit called r/grandpajoehate, which is filled with 'ironic' versions of the illness faker nonsense that disabled people get subjected to all the time.

I think it says a lot about us as a society that people read a book/watch a movie about a controlling, conspiracy-minded industrialist who:

* abruptly fires all his workers and replaces them with slave labour
* throws tantrums when he doesn’t get his way
* physically tortures children when they get hungry (in a chocolate factory!)

and they say to themselves “No he’s not the villain. The 96 year old who got out of bed and danced when he heard his family wouldn’t be grindingly poor anymore, he’s the real villain."

Grow some class consciousness guys.

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)

When eccentric candy man Willy Wonka promises a lifetime supply of sweets and a tour of his chocolate factory to five lucky kids, penniless Charlie Bucket seeks the golden ticket that will make him a winner.
