I’ve really tried to like #WelcomeOblivion by #HowToDestroyAngels (a side project of #TrentReznor and his wife #MariqueenMaandig) but it just consistently doesn’t work. I realise it’s perhaps intended to be ‘sensual’. However, as with many supposedly sensual records, it ends up plain dull. So careful and calculated that it is unable to convey any real emotion. The singing is just there, without wrapping me in a voice or a world.

Weirdly the bonus tracks on the iTunes version are much better!

I've been listening to #WelcomeOblivion by #TrentReznor's #HowToDestroyAngels (named after an album by #Coil) and I'm struggling to decide whether it's more or less intriguing than #NIN's latest material.

The tone is far more interesting, but somehow vocally would need a little more oomph, especially from #Mariqueen. A little more drama. By that I don't necessarily mean Reznorish screaming, but just a bit more spice. See #DieForm #VoltaicControlSystem for a wonderful example, or #MIA.
