I realized that my love of garbage reality competition shows is much like what people love about telenovelas:

- engineered drama
- over-the-top reactions
- absurdly contrived situations
- a villain… OR ARE THEY
- shifting alliances
- major fights
- a hero… OR ARE THEY
- secret hookups
- intense music
- somebody always gets kicked off (but will often return in a future ep)
- …….. dramatic…………… …………………. pauses
