On June 29, 1888, Léon Sichel's storefront at Rue Léopold-Robert 42 in La Chaux-de-Fonds abruptly closed its doors. Creditors and suppliers would not be paid: The firm was over 1.5 million francs in debt! Panic struck: Sichel represented (and was in debt to) most of the #watchmakers there!
