Oscar Shorts 2025 - Animation Strangely enigmatic and quirky is the mix about a children's series from a past decade, where the puppets are moved with stop-motion and the creator is shown in feature film scenes. Three characters play in a fictional series for children in which their creator also appears. When the creator dies, they are left alone. It has its very own nostalgic look and a morbid melancholy. Trapped in their movie studio, the characters write to children to get food from them. Reminds me of the forgetting of stories, which also drives the plot in The Neverending

The animation film Wander to Wonder by Dutch director Nina Gantz has been nominated for an Academy Award. The film has been nominated for the category Best Animated Short Film, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday. Wander to Wonder is a stop-motion animation film about three stars of a children’s TV show in the 1980s Mary, Billybud, and Fumbleton. After the creator of the show passes away, they are left alone in the studio. Plagued by hunger and sadness, they soldier on and make increasingly strange episodes for their fans.
