And predictably saw a motorist taking advantage of the fact that on-coming eastbound traffic wasn't moving yet, and gunning it through the intersection directly in to the sidepath crossing....where I would have been were I not a keen observer of effed-up traffic signal phasings.

So, here, finally, dear readers, is my question:

***How common it is to have a permissive yellow left turn concurrent with an LPI on a sidepath?***

We have a mile-long stretch of road, one of the main routes into downtown, with no crosswalks. So when a utility contractor has to close a shared sidewalk/bike route, they have to close it for a mile. Impacts on users be damned. I decided to comply. #VisionMillion urbanists.video/w/61kUzcaPw4...

When your main road into downtown only has one crosswalk per mile, obeying the "pedestrian management plan" for minor utility work tends toward the absurd.

This is not responsible traffic engineering. This is blatant malpractice, and every single engineer who programs a permissive yellow in conjunction with an active walk signal needs to be on the hook for the deaths and injuries they will cause. #VisionMillion #RoadSafety

There are some entirely valid points to be made about how our roadway designs set us all up to fail. But at the end of the day, we get to choose whether or not we want to give a shit about each other. #VisionMillion
