My "masters" for ExoSquad (someone's web rip from Peacock that I torrented) seem to be getting along better with the "anime" upscaling models than my PAL DVD rips of Visionaries and Inhumanoids. I really should look into making a training model specifically for the style of 80s action cartoons, and maybe a robot-specific one trained on things with existing 1080p+ masters like TFTM and GaoGaiGar.
Just playing around with some upscaling on the ol' new laptop.

Decided to try out some machine-learning models for upscaling computer animations (in dvd resolution), namely testing Real-ESRGAN and Real-CUGAN.

Settled with ESRGAN and its model 'anime-plus'. My impression is that for the best end results, the optimal (and quite tedious) approach would've probably been to upscale using various models. After that, cherry picking per scene for best results (least artifact-y) and then video editing the lot to match the original cut.
Totally missed out on the detail that YT doesn't support 2880p resolution anymore. Oh well 🤷
