Yes, the Brunswick level Crossing Removal of 8 crossings and building skyrail will necessitate closing the rail lane for a time and the #UpfieldBikePath through Brunswick.The finish timeline has been pushed out from 2027 to at least 2030. Residents want to see accessible tram stops and protected bike lanes (as a detour) on Sydney Road before construction starts.

What we do for citizen science! A little after midday Dad stopped to take some quick ambient and spot temperature measurements along the new #UpfieldBikePath as it passes Merlynston station:
🔥Rail ballast was 51-52.6C
🚗Asphalt parking lot was 50-51.2C
🌡️White Concrete path: 42.6C
🌡️Ambient temperatures above shared use path: 37-39.4C.

In comparison the path north of Boundary Road ambient temperatures were at least 2C cooler with the cemetery and 🌳trees on the west side but the path still in full sun.

The good people at #CAMerribek advocated to LXRP who did the car park redevelopment to use best practice design and incorporate shading of the shared use path (optimally via trees) They were ignored. 😡

This is a Failure to build for #heatWave and #climate of the future, that is increasingly here now. 🐶🐶
