Watching USWA (and the big promotions as well of course) from 1996, it's kind of funny watching Jeff Jarrett's character become more and more of a parody of itself. "That’s J E double-F ha-ha-ha J A ha-ha double-R E double-T ha-ha-ha" Like those incredibly forced laughs HAVE to be on purpose, right?

Just watched Flex Kavana's first televised USWA match from 1996 and yeah, he was still really green. His punches are awful and although his character didn't lock it in during the match he tried for a sharpshooter submission hold and it reminded me of how awful his sharpshooters always looked.

I think I've watched too much 1995 (also 1996 now) pro wrestling stuff. Drunk me went to update a random database and when I typed the name Jeff Jarrett, I said aloud "J-E-double-F haha! J-A-double-R-E-double-T" in a cheesy bad imitation. No "Ain't I great?" this time at least.

Huh, in this 1996 USWA stuff I've been watching they advertised a then-upcoming show and mentioned "newcomer Dewayne Johnson." I wonder if this new guy ever does anything significant in the pro wrestling world? He's wrestling in a high school auditorium so I doubt he'll ever be electrifying or some kind of final boss...

no USWA if an old SNL skit has taught me anything you're supposed to make it "mank" and "ind" if you make it two words.

Also it's strange they called him "Mankind the Mutilator" earlier in the show which was a variation on Vince McMahon's original name idea of "Mason the Mutilator" that Foley shot down before he debuted in WWF. Lawler's USWA had a pretty obvious working relationship with WWF, talent from one would frequently show up on the other.

I suppose I should mention Sunny as well, since she showed up on this 1996 #USWA show along with her team The Bodydonnas? I didn't remember her from my childhood, but about a decade ago I watched #WWF Raw and PPVs from the start of 1996 through the Wrestlemania in 1999 and I grew to like her.

I later learned she is kind of an awful human being, and semi-recently she killed someone in a car crash? It makes seeing her on-screen here... weird.

I hear around summer 1996 some third-generation wrestler called "Flex Kavana" joins USWA after his college football career ends? With a name like that, do you think his career will ever go anywhere?
