I'd like to take the opportunity to remind you that XMPP video calls exist!

They're not supported by _all_ clients and not for group calls. But 1:1 calls work perfectly fine!

And: They're encrypted if you chose OMEMO encryption in your conversation with another user. 💪

An XMPP developer pointed me to configuration issues with the trashserver.net TURN/STUN service.

This service is required for video call setups and is probably not used by a lot of people, but still: It was broken and might have caused some issues with video calls (haven't observed any issues with it myself, though...)

Nonetheless: The issues _should_ be fixed now.

Dear trashserver.net users,

since the update to Ejabberd 26.01 there have been numerous reports about missing encrypted messages and duplicate messages in XMPP group chats (MUCs).

I've experienced these issues myself and feel frustrated. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do right now to resolve these issues, because I don't have any Erlang / Elixir or Ejabberd expertise.

But I've filed a bug report for the Ejabberd team and hope they will be able to find the cause or the problem, soon: https://github.com/processone/ejabberd/issues/4521
