#traps #trapping #PestControl #Doc200-
Digging through photos and came across some old slow-mo videos of how quickly (and powerfully) soft catch foothold traps close. Used these to capture pelicans for GPS tagging in Utah!
Got my fingers caught in them enough times to prove they're still quite gentle, despite the look of them
#trapping is inhumane. It betrays the respect, coexistence, and compassion we owe the wild—something Indigenous peoples have always understood—because #wolves are family, and we share this home with them, and we need #wildlife to thrive for our own survival too.
Every year in the U.S., millions of wild animals suffer in cruel #traps : steel-jaw leghold traps, snares, cable restraints, body-grip (#Conibear ) traps, and glue traps.

Most of the projects are structured as trusts, but one interested project is a for profit business - albeit with the main focus on restoration.
They are getting revenue via the ETS and biodiversity credits.
Their activity is almost exclusively #trapping pests focused on possums, feral cats (huge problem), rats and mustelids, with hunting of pigs, goats and deer (ground and aerial).
They are seeing great results with vegetation bouncing back and a dramatic increase of birds. Including the return and successful breeding pairs of robins.
