curses, foiled again
the sun was shining brightly all afternoon, but slipped behind clouds just before sunset

big ice storm incoming, Toronto
but tonight is going to be mostly sunny, so you still have a chance to see something really cool
at 5:47pm tonight in Toronto, the sun will set directly over the east-west street grid, creating an effect known as Torontohenge (named after Stonehenge)
the effect is more dramatic amidst downtown towers
there are four Torontohenges each year --
Feb 15 (+) sunset
Apr 19 (+) sunrise
Aug 23 (–) sunrise
Oct 25 (–) sunset
(+) good pics for a week or so after
(–) good pics for a week or so before
while today is mostly cloudy, keep an eye on that weather forecast, and look for an opportunity later this week
this entire week has been clouded out
here's me yesterday on Bloor St at Church, looking west, hoping for a break in the clouds, but no luck
ah well, next opportunity is in February
🎶
if i look hard enough into the setting sun
i'll see Torontohenge before this week is done
🎵
Peaking today, in #Toronto:
#TorontoHenge
Oct 25 sunset 6:18pm
good pics for a week before
Oh, hey!
Tomorrow is another #TorontoHenge:
This time, sunset at 6:18 PM.
Enjoy!!

four times a year, the rising or setting sun crosses the horizon directly over Toronto's east-west-aligned street grid, producing an effect named Torontohenge
the next Torontohenge is October 25 at sunset, with good photo opportunities for the week prior
