My new #Tootcast on the democratic patriotization of young and old.

Today: Men's rights and #humanrights

As I explained in my last tootcast, the introduction of democracy led to serious divisions.

Before running the risk of losing the next elections or votes, people preferred to let their political opponents migrate into graves on a massive scale.

This led to the development of a new form of legal system, namely the idea of universal men's rights (droit de l'homme).

Men's rights were by no means new. Enlightenment philosophy was already concerned with white heterosexual adult men's rights.

It is important to note that Catholic conventions repeatedly declared women to be human beings. But the logic-driven Enlightenment wanted to put an end to this superstition.

When it came to the subject of women, the great rational, racist, anti-Semitic philosophers, such as Kant and Rousseau, were left with nothing but hatred. Man was glorified as culture (civilized), woman as nature (wild and stupid).

Thus, in the course of the new democratization, women were now completely excluded. As a natural thing, like children, she was counted in the property category of men, who were already allowed to vote.
