Overall, To Every You I've Loved Before is a better movie than To Me, The One Who Loved You because it covers more interesting concepts, including the ethics of swapping worlds.
Overall, To Every You I've Loved Before is a better movie than To Me, The One Who Loved You because it covers more interesting concepts, including the ethics of swapping worlds.
As a standalone movie, To Every You I've Loved Before is worse than To Me, The One Who Loved You because it spends a lot of time explaining the things that happened in the other movie.
To Every You I've Loved Before is the sister movie to To Me, The One Who Loved You. While you can watch these movies in either order, I watched this one second, and I feel like that was the correct choice.
In #ToEveryYouIveLovedBefore (#僕が愛したすべての君へ) #anime #film, it posited that there are small “parallel shifts” that we don't notice. Say, you placed your keys on top of a drawer, the next moment it's not there; then it's back.
But I do notice it! :p
I've also been calling it “parallel shift” since I became aware of my own shifts in the 90s!
I even did experiments to somehow influence my shifts, or to force it. Little success. I mean, like 1 out of 10 attempts. ;)

A boy is staring into space as a dog behind him barks and a lady walks into frame behind the dog.
The biggest problems with these movies is their scope: they literally cover decades of the characters’ lives and often have to show time passing with musical montages. These are never my favourite thing.
Worth watching, but I suspect the books would be better for the emotional impact. #ToMeTheOneWhoLovedYou #ToEveryYouIveLovedBefore
There’s an interesting pair of parallel worlds movies ala Niven’s #AllTheMyriadWays on CrunchyRoll - #ToMeTheOneWhoLovedYou and #ToEveryYouIveLovedBefore
I believe that they’re supposed to be watchable in any order, but I’d recommend starting with “To Me, The One Who Loved Your” before watching “To Every You I’ve Loved Before”
