Powerful programming: BBC-controlled electric meters are coming to an end
Fascinating!
I hope they won't follow the example here and turn the signals off too. Those sequences of beeps every 30 minutes are how I keep track of the time in the morning so that I can leave home on time and not miss the train. #Radio #TimeSignal

Nobody needed it but, dammit, I'll miss it.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/cbc-stops-broadcasting-national-research-council-long-dash-time-signal-1.6988903 “For more than 80 years the beeps and tones of the National Research Council (#NRC) #TimeSignal have connected Canadians at exactly 1 p.m. ET.
But as of Monday, #CBC Radio One audiences won't be listening for the beginning of the #LongDash — they'll have listened to the end of it.”
The beginning of the long dash indicates 10AM Pacific Daylight Time.
Or at least it did for 80 years... until yesterday. It makes sense why they decided it was time... to stop.
And yes, out of pure serendipity, I tried to send this at exactly 10:00:00AM :)
My laptop clock is within a second of the NRC web clock :)
