A tidal bore is a natural phenomenon in which the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a wave that travels up river, actually reversing the direction of the river's current.
I took this video just down the street from my house, in Riverview, NB. It actually changes the height of the Petitcodiac River about 20 feet in an hour.

@ECityMom Hopewell Rocks are well worth seeing. You can see tidal bores on the Petitcodiac River in NB, or the Salmon and Shubenacadie rivers in NS, twice daily as the tide changes. Shediac, NS has a giant “tourist” lobster, and they’ve just opened a lobster information centre. Annapolis Royal and Halifax, NS have lots of historical significance (albeit colonial).
The Fundy Trail Parkway west of Hopewell Rocks is very scenic.
