Last night, we marked the launch of Donovan Street Press’ latest book, Shadows & Reflections: Diving in the Sea of Time by David Gerrold!

We shared stories about times our paths crossed, editor Ira Nayman raved about the unique quality of these deeply personal stories, and of course, we compared notes on our favourite episodes of Star Trek (what's yours? Let us know!).

Join us in grabbing your favourite libation and diving into this spectacular new collection from a legendary writer!

Page one of my friend and former colleague Barbara Worthy's script of The Tempest, with her notes on top of sound effects engineer Anton Szabo's notes, and lord knows who else, which Barbara produced for CBC Radio back in the late 1900s or thereabouts, with actor Bill Hutt in the Glenn Gould Theatre, an historical document that we both now think looks like ART. :-)

Congratulations to David Gerrold on the official launch day of Shadows & Reflections: Diving in the Sea of Time.

To say that it is an honour to publish a book by David Gerrold is a vast understatement. I'm biased of course; still, I view Shadows & Reflections as a pleasing, heartfelt collection by one of the top practitioners of the craft.

I hope you'll consider purchasing and reading this excellent collection by a true legend.

What do the tribbles from Star Trek, the ultimate time travel novel, and a 2007 movie starring John Cusack have in common?

They came from the mind of the incredible David Gerrold, of course!

We’re beyond thrilled to publish the latest book from one of the SF greats. Shadows & Reflections comes out TOMORROW! Get ready to grab your copy and dive into the sea of time.

Do you have your tickets for TriCon Halifax? 🎟️

If you’re out of the loop, Tricon is Atlantic Canada’s literary conference for speculative fiction. There are three full days of panels, lectures, and workshops designed for writers and publishers alike!

So of course we’ll be in Halifax representing from May 15-17 😉

Stop by and say hi to DSP owner Joe Mahoney AND two of our authors, Mark A. Rayner and Paul Burns!

Know someone who wants to write a novel?

I'm conducting a Storytelling Workshop for teens at the Riverview Library the evening of May 7th.

I've spent a lifetime collecting wisdom about writing. We'll talk about story, characters, beginnings, middles, ends, how to create and maintain tension, and whatever else comes up! My plan is for you to leave with a good idea how to write a novel along with the passion to do so.

Contact the Riverview Public Library at (506) 387-2108 to register.

Only 10 days until Shadows & Reflections is officially here! Unless you can travel through time like one of David Gerrold’s creations, you’ll just have to wait like the rest of us. (Or if you CAN travel through time, maybe grab a copy from May 5 and leave us a review!)

It was great to sit down with Eric Lawson from the River View and chat about today's reading culture!

As a small publisher, we see the impact books still have on the world. That's why we do what we do. 🤓

Our authors have gotten TWO Booklist reviews so far this year!

Less than 7,500 books out of the MILLIONS published each year get named in Booklist.

Shadows & Reflections by David Gerrold made it onto this coveted list (and it’s not even out yet — get your copy on May 5!)

And… only about 10% of listed books get a STARRED review. Michael Antman’s Cherry Whip checked that off, too. ⭐

We’ve always stood behind the quality of our books, but it’s wonderful to see our authors be recognized.

Coming soon from Donovan Street Press! The Druid and the Dragon by Paul Burns.

When Nightwind, a grouchy old dragon, whisks Fraser Campbell away to the magical realm of Terranaught, he’s thrust into a world he never knew existed and a destiny he never asked for: defeat the powerful wizard Lord Borath. The problem? No one, least of all Fraser, believes he can do it, except Nightwind.
