Berlinale 2024 - Berlinale Special Gala - [English] Amira is a doctor in a hospital in Aleppo when the Syrian civil war forces her to flee with her daughter. In several episodes, we follow the fate of her and other families. In his feature film debut, Brandt Andersen allows the paths in the episodes to cross again and again. This is not particularly new, but it is effective. They are sent across the sea on rubber dinghies in the dark to reach a Greek island. On the Turkish side, Omar Sy plays a smuggler who is unscrupulous in his dealings.
