Andre The Giant honored with roadside marker in tiny North Carolina town

Wrestler and actor Andre The Giant is being honored with a roadside marker in a small town in North Carolina that was once his home. Wrestler Vladimir Koloff helped unveil the marker Thursday. The wrestler, whose real name was Andre Rene Roussimoff, lived on a ranch near Ellerbe. He was involved in the community even fighting a landfill for low-level radioactive waste. Billed as 7-foot-4 and 520 pounds, he was a towering figure in wrestling during the 1970s and 1980s, famously facing Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania in 1987. Later that year, he appeared as Fezzik in “The Princess Bride.” He died in 1993 at age 46.

We sat down with the kidlets last night and watched The Princess Bride.

They absolutely *loved* it!

It helped them understand where quite a lot of memes came from.

It was also interesting to see a movie absolutely hit the mark with kidlets born more than 20 years after it was released.
