A ★★★★½ review of The Last Hunter (1980)

"Can't complain, honey. Tommy's got the biggest calibre in the service." Everybody: "A HUMDINGER!" Well, this was a problematic video nasty. I mean, if you think a war movie is FUN... we got a problem, right? I don't think they are supposed to be fun..? The Last Hunter is everything Rambo: First Blood Part II wanted to be. It takes Italians imitating Americans to REALLY capture what the American action hero is: a piece of shit. (Honestly one of the reasons why I think Kung Fury worked so well: we dumb Swedes just had fun with the big American action
