Long-time followers may remember her having been mauled by a rogue neighborhood dog. She barely survived that ordeal, and still carries scars.
She’s walked into traffic, lost most of her sight, fallen into a pool, and so many other narrow escapes.
Last night, on #NationalDogDay no less, she decided to practice her swan dive. Sneaked through the stair banister, off the upstairs landing and dropped eight feet onto the concrete floor below. She spent the night in the MacQueen emergency pet hospital. The doc says most dogs who fall this far are DOA.
Miracle of miracles: no broken bones, no internal organ damage. Lost a tooth or two. Some slow reflexes, but they’ve steadily improved over the last 24 hours.
Aside from being very sore and shaken up, she’s back at home devouring food and occupying her favorite bed right next to mine.
So it was only a swan dive, and not a swan song. Again. I swear that “Die Another Day” is her motto.
