Here we go: a prototype for AuthentiFriend, the app in Dave Eggers' great book The Every.

In the book the app listens to your interactions with friends and rates whether they are lying, or a good friend. The app was created by the protagonist as a 'this is too much, and the public will finally find #bigtech revolting' app. But it is wildly successful 🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately, the German translation of Dave Egger's "The Every" completely destroyed my reading experience. It seems the translation was done by a person who hasn't looked into language evolution for at least 20 years. The translation sounds abelistic, exclusive, and outdated—which is quite disappointing and doesn't fit with the subjects and time of the novel at all. Has anyone of you read the book in English? Is it worth a read?

Die deutsche Übersetzung von "The Every" von Dave Eggers hat mir leider den Lesespaß vollkommen verdorben. Übersetzt hat hier offenbar eine Person, die sich seit 20 Jahren nicht mehr mit Sprache auseinandersetzt hat: abelistisch, exkludierend und aus der Zeit gefallen. Passt absolut nicht zum Romanstoff. Wirklich sehr schade. Frage: hat das Buch wer auf Englisch gelesen? Lohnt es sich?

Just finished #thecircle and "forcing" myself to read #debt before I continue with #theevery. Anyone out there read The Circle? What did you think. I'm a tad torn on my review.

Ik ben nog niet halverwege, maar het boek The Every begint wel heel absurdistisch en onrealistisch te worden. Binnen 4 maanden een tiental apps bedenken, lanceren en een daverend succes maken? 🤔 #theEvery #DaveEggers
