@Jdv3422 reminded me about #TheEasyRiders, a 1950s folk-revival trio led by Terry Gilkyson. Their sound was straight out of the Coen Bros' film Inside Llewyn Davis - except these guys came together in LA, not NYC. They released quite a few records, but "Man About Town" is a timeless, moody classic.
