In "The Doctor Falls", the Doctor says the following in response to why he's taking a certain course of action:

Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because, because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun and God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works, because it hardly ever does. I do what I do, because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind. It's just that. Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe there's no point in any of this at all, but it's the best I can do, so I'm going to do it. And I will stand here doing it till it kills me.

As a queer, trans person living in a country that considers us a "a huge problem to a sane world" and which is actively rolling back our rights and protections, we very much vibe with this  

For us, this isn't the only reason we continue to battle on in spite of seemingly impossible odds, but it is very much a core reason  

We know we can't save everyone. Heck, sometimes it feels like we're not doing any good whatsoever 😞

And then someone will message us for help and be incredibly grateful, advise that they've changed their Steam login using our guide, or thank us for having helped them previously  

Again, this reminds of a section of dialogue from an earlier Doctor Who episode, "The Fires Of Pompeii".

DONNA: You can't just leave them!
DOCTOR: Don't you think I've done enough? History's back in place and everyone dies.
DONNA: You've got to go back. Doctor, I am telling you, take this thing back. It's not fair.
DOCTOR: No, it's not.
DONNA: But your own planet. It burned.
DOCTOR: That's just it. Don't you see, Donna? Can't you understand? If I could go back and save them, then I would. But I can't. I can never go back. I can't. I just can't, I can't.
DONNA: Just someone. Please. Not the whole town. Just save someone.

Sometimes, you've got just to save someone, you know?

Or at least try.

I like the callback to some of the previous regenerations where the companions (and Missy) all call out to the Doctor to get the Twelfth Doctor to come to, along with the references to the First Doctor.
