This year The Cookery includes introduction workshops in the spirit our Summer Workshops (for those who remember).

Four Saturdays to get yourself familiar with tools & concepts you can later use in the Fablab and in your projects.

The first one, in May, is an introduction to electronics and the Arduino physical computing platform, with Louanne Deltenre.

Our second The Cookery masterclass:

LISTENING TO DEAD MACHINES
With Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle + Thomas Teurlai
27 + 28.06.2026 / Brussels

Through an experimental and collective approach, participants will build electromagnetic microphones using components salvaged from domestic appliances, in order to reveal the electromagnetic fields they emit and compose a form of mechanical orchestration from them.

LIVE CODING PATTERNS AND TANGLES
with Alex McLean @yaxu
and Agathe Herrou @th4
30.05—31.05 / Brussels

Over the past 25 years, ‘live coding’ practice has emerged as a human-centric way to explore patterns in music using code-based notation, in a way similar to knitting and other heritage patterns. In this workshop you will get deep into ‘pattern thinking’, and how it can ground contemporary creative technology in ancient arts and crafts.

During the workshop "And what if we cooked with batteries?", @marieverdeil & @dasha invite you to join them in the research on energy, its storage, use and materiality they started during their current residency at iMAL.

We will discuss alternatives to current energy models, while trying to make energy more tangible through playful exercises and DIY prototypes that will remind us what a Watt is. We will collectively explore the history of batteries, discuss their challenges and shortcomings, make our own batteries, and who knows, we might even cook with them!

In their workshop "Light cinema | Sound matter", Olivier Perriquet & Maxence Obein invite participants to explore how light and sound reflects, travels and transforms itself through matter, inventing their own cinematic setups.

The approach is intentionally low-tech and resourceful, aiming to rediscover the playful curiosity and sense of wonder that shaped the early days of moving images.
